FINRA has suspended Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. broker Cesar Hurtado from the securities industry for 45 days. Mr. Hurtado was suspended over recommendations he gave involving an unsuitable options strategy in the accounts of two customers.

Mr. Hurtado was also fined $5,000 and agreed to complete 10 hours of continuing education concerning options trading and customer suitability.

FINRA has fined Oppenheimer $525,000 for negligently misrepresenting cost basis information on more than 1,000 customer account statements and Forms 1099. The firm was also censured and consented to conduct a comprehensive review of the adequacy of its procedures, systems, and controls to track and report cost basis information relating to customer securities transactions.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) has barred stockbroker Jeffrey Warren from the securities industry.  Mr. Warren was expelled from the brokerage industry for refusing to cooperate with a FINRA investigation into a gift that Mr. Warren received from a former Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. customer. Mr. Warren was associated with Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in Boca Raton, Florida, from 2009 until 2021.
